Honestly, choosing
a blog that exemplified excellence was difficult for me. Grading this way is so
subjective and all depends on what catches your eye. While searching through
blogs, the writing styles of some really stood out to me. In particular
Jillian’s blog grasped my attention.
First, I
believe her title makes you think right away. It is positive but not something
that everyone can say they do. The whole point of these blogging assignments is
to develop our critical thinking skills and “when in doubt, be brave” does just
that. It forces you to question how you handle stress and discomfort in your
own life.
Next, her
writing style is very unique. I admire the way that she is straightforward and
real. She does not try to cover anything up through fancy language or abstract
ideas. She also says what she pleases regardless of public opinion. I truly
believe that she means what she says in every line of her blog. Her most recent
post, “Hard Work vs. Talent” was most interesting to me. She has such a great
philosophy about life, which allows you to wonder if you are truly happy with
your own personal situation. Or would you rather begin to work harder to
achieve something more. Jillian also takes a creative path to get across an
idea that many other blogs have written about as well. She uses casual
statements and real life examples that everyone could connect to. This engages
her readers. The images she has selected to include with some of her blog posts
also correspond very nicely and add something to them.
Although
everyone’s blog holds something different, exciting and interesting, Jillian’s just
happened to catch my eye. The more and more I read of it, the more I learned
about her as a person. Also the deeper I delved into it, the more critical I was
forced to think.
I would encourage you all to check her blog out! Here's the link: Jillian's Blog
