Living For Today, Working For the Future

My life before SCSU was blissfully simple… school, extra curricular activities, my boyfriend and my group of 16 girlfriends. I could never imagine life being much more than that, and I was content with this idea. All the talk of college seemed so distant from me because I really did not know what to expect. College can be filled with anxiety and uncertainty because every experience is individual and unique to the student. One student may work hard and excel while another may watch this opportunity pass them by.
For me, college is about shaping my life both academically and socially. I wish to gain experience and confidence to the highest degree. I admit that I am very anal and particular about the expectations I have for myself and for the university. I expect myself to have the drive to work harder than I have ever worked before. My background has taught me that you can always do more. I plan to apply this in all aspects of my life as a college student.
Although I have only been submerged into this experience for a very short period of time, the impression it has placed upon me has been so positive. With a welcoming environment and the resources needed to succeed, SCSU has made the transition into college life much easier for me. My professors and classmates are friendly, approachable and extremely helpful. I personally believe that support is one of the most vital and key aspects to success. Sure hard work, dedication and conscientiousness all come into play but having this support system is truly what lifts you up.
In this present moment, I have to make choices that may or may not have an impact on my future. So many people are concerned with what they are going to do next instead of just living for what is right in front of them. Yes, I am concerned with my future but I am more importantly concerned with my happiness. SCSU is both my future and my happiness, I guess I just got lucky that way.
