Campus Safari #3: A Stress-Free Semester

Everyone wants to be healthy but some think having good health means that you are free from illness or disease. When in reality, there is more to being well than just that. For this weeks campus safari I went to the Student Health Center to find out more about stress in the lives of college students. In one of the brochures I received, stress was defined as “a normal physical, emotional and mental response to change- regardless of whether the change is for the better or worse.” This made me think that stress can actually be a positive thing. It can motivate us to work harder. I also learned ways to effectively deal with it both for short-term and long-term results. Breathing and prioritizing your work are two short-term stress reducers. Recognizing your own personal limitations and being positive are two ways to help your stress levels for the long run. Remember you’re not alone! Everyone gets stressed. You just need to find which way is best for you to handle it!
